Process and Notes for the newborn shoot
Here you will find all the important information: starting with the request, preparation, the shooting day, to the finished pictures.
inquiry
Our journey together begins with the inquiry... simply use my contact form for a non-binding, free inquiry or write me directly on WhatsApp. I will then always contact you via WhatsApp/phone and we will arrange an appointment for an initial consultation.
When should I make an enquiry?
Preferably as early as possible. I create photos of newborns from the 1st to the 4th week of life.
The estimated ET then gives us a rough time span in which the shoot can take place.
Important information for the request?
Your name, cell phone number and estimated due date.
initial consultation
Our first meeting. I love meeting new people and their stories.
I will then call you at the agreed time via WhatsApp video or Facetime.
Why by video?
Since I can't meet every Mama in person over a coffee due to time constraints, this is the most practical alternative. Via video for the reason that we see each other and develop a feeling for each other. I'm always on first name terms with my mums & dads. It's incredibly important that we personally like each other. After all, you entrust me with your greatest treasure on the day of the shoot, which of course is in good hands with me.
Do you have special requests for photos/poses?
It is best to let me know what photos you would like to see during the first meeting, gladly of course also later. I can't always influence whether your baby wants to " take part " in the desired poses. For example, if you have seen photos on my website or Instagram that you you would like to have or blankets, props or anything else in my photos, please let me know in advance with ... so I can prepare the shooting better. I can, of course, post-photograph pictures from other photographers, but these always bear my signature , as I photograph and post-process according to my own style. I do not buy any props for individual shootings, unless they can be used for further shootings, please understand.
Appointment
It is nearly time. The ET is getting closer and closer. New life begins...
Two weeks before the ET, just send me a message via WhatsApp and we'll plan the photo session roughly on a date. My photo sessions are always on weekdays. Appointments on weekends are also possible in exceptional cases
When should I get in touch to confirm the final photo session?
A few days after birth, preferably per WhatsApp .
What if the baby comes earlier/later?
S hould your baby have decided to come earlier/later, we will flexibly adjust the photo session.
Preparation for mom
Well prepared is half done. After our final appointment, you'll get some useful tips for preparing for the photo session . Babies like it especially in the first few weeks of life, when the environmental influences are similar to those of the mother's tummy... means: when it's cozy and warm, they're wrapped up nicely, aren't exposed to any noise and and and . .. then the newborns feel comfortable and sleep best.
Avoid flatulence in the baby (breastfed baby) - Mama should be at least 24 hours. pay special attention to nutrition before the shoot...
If you are breastfeeding, you should avoid flatulent and spicy food at least 24 hours before our appointment . When the baby suffers from gas, it often does not like to be post or is fussy.
For fake babies please think of food...
If you are bottle-feeding your baby, please bring enough bottle feeding or similar for the baby to eat/drink when he feels like it. It gets cozy and warm in the studio, you can get thirsty.
What should I bring to the photo session...
Nappies, wet wipes and changing mats: the little ones often relieve themselves, which is absolutely natural, and mum/dad then takes care of the cleaning.
Pacifier: If you use a pacifier, please bring it with you. This is great for soothing babies during the photo session . If you don't want to use a pacifier, that's no problem either.
Clothing: Please no tight bodies/pullovers and absolutely no clothing that you have to take off over your head . A button-up body or directly in pajamas is the easiest way to change the baby and not wake it up.
Bottle feeding: but only if you are not breastfeeding, otherwise this can have a laxative effect on breastfed babies.
Cuddly toy: if your sweetheart has a favorite cuddly toy, please bring it along.
Keep baby awake before the shooting date...
Talk to the baby, let it kick out on its back _cc781905-5cde -3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d_, or something like that. It is easiest to photograph newborns when they are asleep.
Breastfeed / feed the baby properly again before the shooting date ...
Before you drive home, the baby is breastfed again extensively until it falls asleep. Of course you can also breastfeed or feed me several times in the studio, that's always part of it. Under no circumstances give formula if you have only breastfed the baby - this will cause diarrhea/bloating.
Arrived at the studio - leave the baby in the car seat...
When I arrive at my studio, I'll be happy to take your sleeping baby out of the seat and prepare it for the shoot. If it's already awake, we'll change its clothes and then you'll breastfeed / feed it again in my studio. As mentioned before... a sleeping baby is the easiest to photograph.
shooting day
light Cam. Ready. Action! Your shooting day has come. Your baby is the center of attention.
The duration and poses depend entirely on your little wonder. It is important to me that your baby, but also mum and dad, return home happy. We didn't rush through the photo op. We take enough time to relax, change, breastfeed and of course take photos. You just lean back!
My baby and/or I fell ill on the day of the shoot - what now?
Please only come to my studio if you are healthy! It is for my safety, that of other babies/mums and of course my family. We will then find an alternative date. In that case let me know as soon as possible.
How long does the newborn shoot take?
Most importantly, your baby and you, the new mom, are relaxed. The minimum is 2 hours, mostly I take up to 4 hours. With twins it can sometimes be 5 hours. I also only accept a maximum of 2 shoots per day. The baby is the focus and should not be rushed!
As a mom, do I have to prepare the baby for every photo set?
As a mom, aunt and baby photographer, your baby is in the best hands with me. I'll be happy to calm you down, change your clothes and of course pose for the photos. When your baby cries, I use different techniques to calm the newborn. As a new mum, you can definitely make good use of the break and chill on the armchair in the immediate vicinity of the shooting set.
How many photo sets are used during a shoot?
I mostly shoot in 2-3 sets. A set consists of background, floor and props/decoration.
We always take pictures on the bean bag (these are the simpler photos) and always in at least one other set as well. But it also depends entirely on your baby how long it wants to participate.
What if my baby doesn't participate at all and just cries/screams ?
I know many techniques to calm a baby. But if nothing works out right from the start and the baby doesn't calm down with mom either, we'll talk to each other and then stop the shoot. We will then find an alternative date. The regulation for the costs incurred can be found in the price lists.
Follow-up
The images are in the "box", now they still have to be selected and then "developed". You choose your photos from the comfort of your own home. Once you have sent me your selection, I will then start to digitally post-process these photos. Brightness, colors, contrast, etc. are optimized and of course any skin imperfections are removed in Photoshop. The photos are always characterized by my individual style. The finished photos for you are then always edited and retouched.
How do we choose the photos we want?
I will send you a pre-sorted online gallery with all the photos taken online. There you can easily choose your favorite pictures, which I will edit and retouch. You will then receive further instructions in the message with the link to the gallery. It may be that there is an object, finger or something else in the picture - the then retouch the of course. bad5cf58d_
What if we want more photos?
You're welcome. Each package booked includes a number of edited/retouched images. Wenn Ihr mehr möchtet, könnt ihr diese separat _cc781905-5cde -3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d_zusätzlich bezahlen oder bereits im Voraus ein größeres _cc781905-5cde -3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d_Preispaket Reserve. Just go to my price list .
How and when do we get the finished photos?
You can get the photos as JPEG files via an online gallery. There you can download the pictures and share them with your family and friends. If you would like photo prints or a USB stick, I will send them to you by post - at an additional cost
Frequently Asked Questions - FAQs
Do you also offer vouchers?
A newborn photoshoot is always a great gift for your loved ones. I also offer coupons.
My baby has skin imperfections, what can I do - should I come to the shoot?
No problem. Any skin imperfections, pimples, scratches or similar are quite normal and I will digitally retouch them (Photoshop) after the shooting and thereby remove them.
Can you come to our house to take the photos?
I no longer offer newborn shoots at your home. My studio offers everything we need and is of course perfectly lit. There was always so much equipment ( car fully loaded to the top) and a lot effort with the assembly and dismantling. That's exactly why I chose a studio. We can use this time much better by caring for the baby or by having a coffee together.
Can I bring someone else to the shooting (friend, family)?
Clear. If you have also booked a family or sibling shoot, it is a must anyway.
All other spectators (no more than 2 please) should stay in the background so that the baby and I can take the photos in peace.
What do I have to bring?
You should definitely have the following things with you: diapers, pacifiers, changing mats, bodysuits with buttons and a change of clothes. If your sweetheart already has a favorite cuddly toy, then feel free to bring it along.
Can I have the other unedited photos?
no The edit and retouch photos are my final product. Any other unedited images will not be released.
How may I use the images (as a customer)?
You have the full private right to use the photos. Commercial use is excluded.
Of course, I would be very happy about a "mark" for posts in social media.
